Luke 1:57-80 – What then will this child become?
It was hard enough to hear over the wailing the child made.
Not helped by the silent, gesticulating geriatric or the stubborn first-time matriarch.
At eight days old, already a lifetime of miracles –
an elderly woman defying her womb’s death to give birth
the old priest struck dumb by an angel while in the temple, outspoken doubts resulting in a silent pregnancy of reflection and meditation (and no answering back)
but as a new shriek pierces the temple,
his father’s tongue was freed.
In shouting and blood, he receives his name and commission.
A new name given, a new path to tread, out of ancestor’s shadows and into a new light
A prophecy unleashed while the babe screams in pain.
What then will this child become?
